We are very fortunate living where we do. All the residents at our close get on well. We sit in the back garden (weather permitting), meet each other frequently, have parties and self-factor our property.

We are sympathetic to each others needs and help out in times of ill-health or other crises. We don’t know the residents of the adjacent close but they keep their gardens in good order and don’t create too much noise.

Two minor disadvantages are firstly the street litter. This is largely an unwanted side effect of having local shops on your door step – although the actual shopkeepers act very responsibly.

Secondly there are some houses with large trees in their front gardens which cast unwanted shadow.

Being neighbourly can only enrich your life.
