ALBERT DRIVE – Symposium

August 12, 2013

ALBERT DRIVE: Symposium
Thursday 17th October 2013
10am – 6pm
Tramway 1
25 Albert Drive, Glasgow G41 2PE

In July 2013, Tramway and Glas(s) Performance presented ALBERT DRIVE – Introducing you to your Neighbour; a large scale participatory arts project involving artists, volunteers, local businesses, residents, families, individuals and communities in a creative exploration into the idea of neighbour from the perspective of one street in Pollokshields, Glasgow.

The result was a Performance, a Shared Meal and an Exhibition and featured work by commissioned artists Nic Green, Arpita Shah, Shauna McMullan, Basharat Khan, Janice Parker, Edo Architecture and Glas(s) Performance in collaboration with residents of the area.

Three months after the final event, this Symposium aims to bring some of the artists and neighbours back together to reflect on the results of the project and to share some of the key moments of learning discovered along the way.

Designed for artists, students, producers, community leaders and arts professionals with a passion for the dialogue surrounding creativity, social engagement and participation this Symposium attempts to reflect on some of the themes of the ALBERT DRIVE Project:

- Exploring the relationship between an arts venue and the community living alongside it.

- Developing creative strategies to engage diverse communities in a central question; ‘who is my neighbour?’

- Building a culture of collaboration in which artists of different disciplines work together and learn from each other.

- Examining the aesthetics of participation.

Places for the Symposium can reserved at the Tramway Box Office by calling 0845 330 3501 or by visiting Tramway at 25 Albert Drive, Glasgow G41 2PE.

Tickets cost £12/£6 (concessions).
