When I enter the gardens daily, it is extraordinary. The colour, the growth, the light, all extend themselves. At dusk, the birds sing so loudly – most likely the Robins living around the area, who are often the first ones to sing at dawn and can continue singing well into the night. Their song is often mistaken with that of the Nightingale, with whom they are distantly related.
Pushing back the dining room table
This week I’ve danced (and sang!) to Patsy Cline, Elton John, Status Quo and Led Zeppelin. I’ve learned about ‘the comeback’ of vinyl and the desire to have the tangible feel of the music in your hands.
Centre Green
Things are sprawling, like a Japanese knotweed, across the grounds of a vast space.
I continue collecting voices, sounds, and begin the epic task of transcribing text from audio recordings.

Last week, an 8 hour walk on Albert Drive visiting 4 people to hear their stories about dancing at home. I was Lindy Hopping in a living room, dancing to the Four Tops round a kitchen table, dancing in a garden and enthralled by a childhood story about tap dancing in Mr Kelly the lollipop man’s house because he could play the required tune on his piano!
Step 5 – Printing colours
Step 4 – Printing more colours
Step 3 – Printing first blocks of colour
Step 2 – Exposing the Screen
Step 1 – Computer work
This photo was taken at the very beginning of the process of learning how to screen print. I thought screen printing might be the best way, and most interesting way, to make
The Albert Drive Colour Chart and I needed to learn how to do it before I could understand if it was the right process, or not, to use.
Moon Rise
I speak to many people in the allotments. Over these weeks I have met many people. I record stories, bird calls and read a lot about the difference between accessing sound and visuals.
Lost nest
Fiona finds the nest of a blackbird on the path in her allotment. She thinks it belongs to a family of blackbirds. She hopes the fledglings were strong enough.
Photography workshops at Amina
For the past few weeks, I have been running photography workshops with a wonderful group of ladies at Amina. This week they brought in a personal object and made lovely diptychs using portraiture and still life to show their emotions and memories towards the object they brought in.
Clues to the Missing Letters
Out with NW again when an intriguing thing happened while filming their secret new dance moves. A group of local boys had seen us and approached us to find out what was going on. We explained the project and even mentioned the Letters to Our Neighbours which were right next to us and found out that none of them had read the letters.

Nesting
A lot has happened, although time seems to move slowly now I have arrived in the Gardens, as if my pace slows to match the plants, to match the path of the sun.
